BIOGRAPHY
My family lived in Heidelberg, Germany during my teens. Frequent trips to museums and churches throughout Europe, as well as my mother’s artistic sensibilities, nurtured my appreciation of the arts. I returned to the United States for college and completed a master’s degree in psychology, yet the pull toward the arts was stronger.
My keen interest in Impressionism led me to study at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts. The city provided me with an array of architecture and gardens. My oils with dappled light quickly gained appeal with Garden District residents.
I moved to northern California in my mid-thirties, where I painted on the Monterey Peninsula and along the Big Sur coast. I soon began to exhibit at The Carmel Art Association, as well as in several other local galleries. As a docent for the Monterey Museum of Art, I was exposed to art history, became familiar with the California Impressionist painters and gave tours to visitors.
I have participated in numerous solo, group and juried exhibitions over the course of my career. I have the honor of having my work included in medical facilities and corporate and private collections throughout the United States: to include California, Oregon, Nevada, Texas, Louisiana, Minnesota, New York, New Jersey, Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Florida, North Carolina and Virginia. My work has continued to gain popularity since moving to Virginia, and I have taken part in shows in seven different cities throughout the state. Additionally, you can find my work in private collections in Germany, Ireland and England.
